When most people buy windshield wipers, they may just read friends’ recommendations and online reviews, and don’t know what kind of car wipers are better. Below I will share three criteria to help you better judge whether the wiper is worth buying.
1. First look at what coating is used for the wiper rubber refills.
Because the scraping frequency of the wiper is very high during use, about 45-60 times per minute, and about 3000 times per hour when the wiper is used. Therefore, the wear and tear on the wiper rubber refills is very large. Therefore, the surface of the rubber refills must be coated, which can reduce friction and noise and prolong the service life of the rubber refills.
The coating of rubber refills is generally divided into graphite and Teflon. Their friction coefficients are 0.21 and 0.04 respectively, and the friction coefficient of Teflon is only one-fifth of that of graphite. Therefore, the lubricating effect of Teflon coating is better than that of graphite, and it also makes the rubber refills more wear-resistant.
2. Look at the structure of the wiper.
There are two kinds of metal wipers and soft wipers. The metal wiper is supported by 6-8 claw points, so that the rubber strip and the windshield fit together. But where there are support points, the pressure is high, and where there is no support point, the pressure is relatively small, so the force on the entire wiper is uneven, and water marks may appear when the wiper is used.
There is a whole piece of spring steel inside the soft wiper. Compared with the metal wiper, it can withstand a relatively large pressure, which is equivalent to having countless support points, the pressure is dispersed, the force is more uniform, and the wiper rubber refills and the glass are more closely bonded, so that a better padding effect can be achieved.
Therefore, it is generally better to choose a soft wiper than a metal wiper in terms of structure.
3. The flat wiper also depends on the spring steel.
It is best to choose high-carbon steel for the spring steel, which is more durable. Because the soft wiper relies on the spring steel to disperse the pressure, if the quality of the spring steel is poor, it is more likely to be deformed, which will lead to insufficient pressure and unclean scraping. The strength and hardness of high-carbon steel itself will be relatively high, and elements such as manganese, silicon, and boron are generally added to make it have sufficient toughness and elasticity, and it is not easy to deform even if it is bent with force.
If you want to have a better view when driving in the rain and the wiper blades need to be replaced, you may wish to choose the appropriate wipers according to these 3 criteria!
You are also welcome to compare the quality with our So Good wipers when choosing wipers.
Our wipers use Teflon coating, which is smoother and more durable. The spring steel is made of SK5, which is relatively expensive among high-carbon steels. It is not easy to deform, and the inner head of the wiper is made of zinc alloy, which is more durable. It is firmly connected with the wiper arm and will not cause loose noise.
